Sunnyside Playroom Story
The Sunnyside Playroom was created in honor of Dr. Alex Porter. We provide family-friendly playrooms in adult cancer hospitals within the United States. These playrooms provide a sanctuary where families can come together to play with toys, games, create memorable pieces of art together, read books, relax in an environment with murals that bring the OUTside IN, and watch child-friendly movies in comfortable furniture. To this date, we opened our first family playroom at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Our second family playroom opened late 2023 on the 14th floor of OSUCC-The James!
What We Do
Our Service
Reunite families fighting cancer. Create a space for meaningful moments while in the hospital.
Current Cancer Fighters
- 1.58 million US Cancer Survivors reside with minor children
- 2.85 million minor children impacted
Current Cancer Fighters
- About 562,000 US minors live with a parent in cancer treatment and recovery.
- 22.4% of cancer cases occur in those aged 21-55.
Current Cancer Fighters
- 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
- 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
